A complete karting attraction combining track design, barriers, electric karts, and long-term support

Protex Karting Barriers recently completed a new multi-level go-kart track installation in Columbia, South Carolina, bringing a compact, high-impact karting attraction to an existing family entertainment center and trampoline park.

The project combines a multi-level track, electric go-karts, integrated LED lighting, floor charging, and long-term support as part of a complete turnkey karting solution through Kart1 Distribution.

 

A 545-Foot Multi-Level Go-Kart Track

One of the primary goals of the project was maximizing the available space.

With approximately 10,500 square feet of ground-floor space, the multi-level design extends the finished track to 545 feet along the center line, creating a longer and more dynamic driving experience while making efficient use of the facility’s available footprint.

The multi-level track was completed using Protex Karting Barriers in collaboration with XtremeBarriers, bringing the track structure and barrier system together as part of a cohesive design.

For family entertainment centers, trampoline parks, and other indoor attractions, multi-level karting provides an opportunity to utilize vertical space while creating a visually prominent attraction within the facility.

Protex Karting Barriers

Protex Karting Barriers are integrated throughout the Columbia track to define the racing surface and complement the multi-level structure.

Every facility presents different dimensions, columns, existing attractions, traffic patterns, and operational requirements. Integrating the barrier system into the overall track design allows the racing line, track footprint, pit configuration, and barrier placement to work together as one complete karting system.

 

Three-Tier LED Track Lighting

The Columbia installation also features a three-tier LED lighting system throughout the track.

The lighting emphasizes the different levels of the structure and creates greater visual separation between sections of the circuit. Within a family entertainment center, this helps transform the karting track into a prominent visual attraction for both drivers and spectators.

Combining lighting, elevation changes, barriers, and track design creates a more immersive experience while making the most of the facility’s available space.

 

OTL Electric Go-Karts and Floor Charging

The track is equipped with OTL EGK and EGK Duo electric go-karts, providing both single-driver and tandem karting options.

The facility also incorporates floor charging for the electric kart fleet, allowing the karts to charge from their designated positions in the pit area. This helps create a cleaner pit configuration while supporting efficient day-to-day fleet operations.

A Turnkey Karting Solution

Through Kart1 Distribution, the Columbia project was developed as a complete turnkey karting solution, bringing track design, multi-level construction, Protex Karting Barriers, OTL electric go-karts, floor-charging integration, and installation support together under one project.
